Well, here we are at the end of another year and we have been busy as usual over the last few months. We successfully installed a timber bench into the playground at Garrett Hall Primary School in Tyldsley. We spent three days carving the bench with the pupils and in collaboration with Lara Norris, we installed a mosaic in the playground floor. The school were very pleased with the work and you can read what they said on our Feedback page. We attended Wigan Eco-School Conference in October and had a great time making apple juice with the pupils using our fruit press. We also attended a Green Teach Meet organised by Manchester Environmental Education Network. This was a brilliant networking session and we met with teachers who are keen to consult with us about how to green up their school grounds. We were back at Parrs Wood Environmental Centre in November to finish the pond clearance work we started in April this year. The students from Manchester University's Manchester Leadership Programme volunteered with us and although it was cold, wet and rather smelly, they worked hard to get the job done. Throughout this season we have continued to work with Southway Housing Trust, improving their open green spaces. This is always satisfying work when you know you are making the environment better and residents come up to tell you how much they like what you are doing. We got into the Christmas spirit early in December with some Christmas craft fairs for Manchester City Council. Children in Debdale Park and Platt Fields Park made candle and tree decorations. We are looking forward to 2017 with great optimism. We will continue to share visions and ideas with groups and schools and hope to be part of their plans to bring these visions to fruition. We are booked onto two conferences for 2017. The first one is in February - the Earth Week Fair at Manchester University. We will be there on Friday 10th February - venue and details to follow on Fb. We are also very proud to have been asked to attend The Schools Sustainability Conference at Lancaster University in June 2017. We shall post more information nearer the time.
