Water Harvesting system April 2015
I was asked by the allotment society at Harpurhey Allotments, North Manchester to install a water harvesting system for the general use of the allotment site. I had seen some excellent examples of water butt frames and so was confident I could deliver a robust and serviceable design. With permission, we sourced the wood for the frames on the allotment, which always makes me happy to know I am up-cycling timber. After a good coat of preservative and some plumbing expertise, the water butts were in place and ready for the first rainfall to start filling. This way of working keeps the costs down for the group and the carbon footprint down too.
